General Assistance (GA) is funded by Randolph County and receives no state or federal funds. General Assistance works with people who have pending Supplemental Security Income (SSI) cases.
A client who calls to inquire about General Assistance has generally been referred by one of the other Randolph County social services agencies. In order to be eligible for General Assistance, a client must have a pending SSI claim, live in Randolph County and be receiving Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Our office counsels potential GA participants by appointment only. It takes about 2 weeks to be approved and then about another 2 weeks before a client receives financial assistance.
A person may call my office with questions or to schedule an appointment at 618.443.3311.
